How to Play Home Is Where He Is

Home Is Where He Is is a first-person horror visual novel. You read, you tap to advance dialogue, you choose how to respond, and the apartment remembers.

Start the game

1. Open the home page.
2. Press the round red Play button at the top of the page. The playable Ren'Py build loads inside the frame.
3. If the page ever shows only a black screen, refresh once and allow scripts for home-is-where-he-is.com.

Controls

• Click / tap - advance dialogue.
• Mouse hover - on choice buttons to preview the option text.
• Keyboard - Space or Enter advances; Esc opens the in-game menu.
• Fullscreen - press the Fullscreen button below the player; press Esc again to exit.

Tips for the first run

• Read every line twice. Wording matters - the game tracks behavioural patterns, not just the option you tap.
• Save your first run for a quiet hour. The pacing rewards attention.
• Notice which rooms you keep choosing to walk into. The story is watching your habits.
• The mirror choice is the most replay-shaping single decision in the whole game.

Where progress saves

The game itself stores saves via the standard Ren'Py Save / Load buttons at the bottom of the in-game menu. Your endings tracker on this site is separate and lives only in your browser - it is a tool for remembering which branches you have already seen, not the in-game save.
